REPORT: Valley Forge at Downingtown

Downingtown received the ball to start the second half, but the Valley Forge squad was determined to gain some points, and soon gained possession of the ball. An impressive kick brought them within 5 meters of the try line. Downingtown players fought to keep them out of the try zone and gained possession of the ball, but a quick recovery led to a Valley Forge score. The conversion was missed, and the score now stood at 19-5.

After kicking off, Downingtown players fought viciously to gain possession of the ball, eventually taking control through a line-out. Use of the maul brought Downingtown within scoring distance, but Valley Forge kept the Dingoes out, and gained possesion, advancing the ball out to mid field. However, a Valley Forge penalty lead to a beautiful kick to touch, and Downingtown was once again knocking on the door. The Dingoes continued to advance, but were held up in the try area, giving them a scrum at the 5 meter line. Again using the maul, flanker Matt Dunleavy popped off the back, scoring a try, diving over a Valley Forge defender. A missed conversion put the score at 24-5.

High tackles and other penalties by Valley Forge assisted the Dingoes as they again played together and advanced down field. Great support by reserve flanker Zach Mullineux enabled him to score from the 5 meter line, although the conversion was missed, bringing the score to 29-5. Valley Forge players fought hard, and after a penalty by Downingtown, ran 20 meters to put them in scoring position. Although Downingtown tried to keep them out, Valley Forge managed to punch it in to put the score at 29-10. After the kick off, Valley Forge continued to play aggresive, with a break away by number 13. Number 13 was held up and kept out by a few  Downingtown players, enabling flyhalf Luke Bolembach to strip him of the ball and run it into touch, giving Downingtown some breathing room. Chris Bates stole the line out, giving Downingtown possesion. Great teamwork from everyone allowed the squad to quickly advance down the entire field. After another maul, hooker Chris Palmeri scored the final try of the match, putting the final score at 34-10.
