Day 5 - Wednesday 4/20/2011

We had another great day in London. The weather is fantastic - sweatshirts until about noon and tee shirts the rest of the day. We started with a 7:30 breakfast and 8:30 meet for a 9 am depart on the bus. This morning we boarded our regular bus with a tour guide right at the hotel. The guide was very English. We decided he was either very knowledgeable and knew what he was talking about or we American tourists really don't know enough to question him anyway so we may as well just go with it.

We ended the tour after the changing of the guard and a walk around Buckingham Palace, where they were already busy setting up the stages for the BIG WEDDING! This town is closing down for the special occasion. Pubs are having parties, kids are off school and people are not going to work.

We had lunch near Shepherd market with 1 ½ hours free meeting back up at 3pm to go to Hyde Park for the boys to play some sevens or just relax. Hyde park was much busier than we expected. There were people everywhere. There is much more physical activity happening here than at the parks at home. Most people walk, jog, ride bike or roller blade as their primary form of transportation.

We boarded the bus at 7:30 for the 30-40 minute return to the hotel. Dinner was a free for all within walking distance of the hotel - a mix of kabobs, doners (stuffed pita bread), pizzas (many) and Chinese food which most brought back to the hotel lobby and ate together.

The boys are super excited about tomorrow. We are on the same am schedule as today but at 9 we depart for Marlow. Our match is not until 5pm so the plan is to arrive there by 3:30. The trip will only take us about 1 ½ hours so we have a few stadiums in mind to hit on the way and a town or two as well. More about that tomorrow....

The boys are having fun with Tim's wheelchair, with and without Tim in it. Tim is the most trusting young man I know as he never knows who is going to be pushing, pulling or tilting him. The boys have also worked together to make sure that Tim is right there with us either by crutches or wheelchair. The Coaches are thinking they might be able to play Tim a bit tomorrow? Kidding Kate, Tim is not playing tomorrow.

Lights out for me - hope you have enjoyed the trip so far.
